Moving from research and development to the commercialization of adaptation technologies has proven to be a challenge due to: a poor understanding of adaptation markets, weak policy frameworks, and a lack of appropriate financial mechanisms to blend public and private finance, reduce investment risk and shorten rates of return.
A supportive investment ecosystem requires an understanding of climate change risks and resilience factors, economic analysis and the costing of technology options, and a receptive market for adaptation technologies.
The session will explore the enabling conditions that are required in order to finance the commercialization of adaptation technology solutions with a particular focus on understanding and improving investment ecosystems.
Session led by the Climate Technology Centre and Network.
