Akio Takemoto is Director of Research and Information Office at Global Environment Bureau, Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ). He is jointly appointed Director of Climate Change Adaptation Office at the Ministry. Since July 2014, Dr. Takemoto has been engaged in producing the national climate change impact assessment report, formulation and implementation of the National Adaptation Plan, promotion of greenhouse gas monitoring, climate change negotiation on the land sector and promotion of environmental research activities. He participated in a series of IPCC sessions as a head of delegation of Japan.
Dr. Takemoto served as Secretariat Director of Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) from 2011 to 2014. He served as Director of Groundwater Office, International Cooperation Office, Climate Change Division and other Divisions and Offices at MOEJ, and also served as the first and second Secretary of the Permanent Delegation of Japan to the OECD.
Dr.Takemoto started his career on Environment Administration (Environment Agency of Japan) in April 1992. He got Doctor of Engineering (Environmental and Functional Sciences) at Ibaraki University in March 2010 and Master’s Degree of Science (Geophysics) at Hokkaido University in March 1992
