Mr. Youssef Nassef

Youssef Nassef has led the work on adaptation to climate change under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change since 1999 when he was seconded from the Egyptian Foreign Service.  In his role in leading adaptation workstreams at the UNFCCC, he has shepherded the launch and implementation of a number of ongoing initiatives by the UNFCCC Adaptation team in support of effective adaptation and resilience in response to climate change. This includes the inception and support for the NAPA and NAP processes; the Nairobi Work Programme and the work of three constituted bodies (Adaptation Committee, LDC Expert Group, and the ExCom of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage).  He holds a Doctoral degree in International Technology Policy and Management and a Master’s degree in International Environmental Policy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, as well as a Master’s degree in Middle East Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Physics from the American University in Cairo.
