In 2013, Donna joined the Climate Centre and since then, has been providing policy-related technical support on climate change adaptation (CCA), disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience building to the Red Cross Red Crescent family and partners in the Asia Pacific region. She is engaged in local climate change planning; mainstreaming in local development plans as well as in national planning processes and policy development – making sure that the needs of the most vulnerable are identified, reflected and addressed at all levels. Her main task is to link science and practice into policies, plans and budgets and ensure that climate-smart policies are operationalized on the ground.
Donna is also engaged in various platforms in Asia Pacific (like ASEAN, APEC, AMCDRR) as well as in the global discourses, including in the UNFCCC processes on loss and damage and adaptation. Since 1995, Donna has been specializing in policy development, governance and evidence-based advocacy and knowledge management in DRR, CCA and Integrated Risk Management. She has work experiences in the legislative and executive branches of government; international NGO; and now, with the Red Cross Red Crescent family.
Donna is based in Manila, married and has 4 daughters.
